Making LEDs blink, part 1: RC circuit
The circuit below is called "astable multivibrator". Multivibrators consist of two
amplifier circuits arranged with regenerative feedback. "Astable" means that the
circuit is never in a stable state, it constantly switches from ON to OFF. The frequency of the circuit is determined by the RC (resistor capacitor) time constants. The two capacitors (C1, C2) in combination with their charging resistors (R2, R3) are used as timing devices. Use the following formula to calculate these ON/OFF times more precisely: t = 0.693RC (units are in F and Ω).
