Analysis for the Juno New Frontiers Mission

A radio and plasma wave instrumentdesign based on field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) has been investigated in preparation for the Juno New Frontiers Mission to Jupiter. The design implements an analysis system to perform Fast Fourier Transforms (FFT) on wave signals. The analysis system has three functional blocks; a supervisory processor, a 32-bit pipelined floating point processor, and a memory management unit. The main task of the floating-point processor is to performFFT computations, while the supervisory processor is used for system monitoring and operating system tasks. The memory management unit is used to expand the 16-bit address space of the supervisory processor to 20-bits allowing for up to 1 megabyte of memory
