Thermodynamic Analysis of Air Cooled Simple Gas Steam Combined Cycle Plant

Presently high temperature, internally cooled gas turbines form the basis for the development of high efficiency plants for electric utility and industrial applications. Minimizing irreversibility of processes in all components of a gas turbine plant leads to greater plant efficiency. Turbine cooling, like all real processes, is an irreversible process and results in lost opportunity for producing work.
Thermodynamic analysis of the simple gas/steam combined cycle is presented in this paper. In this study, apart from the performance evaluation of air cooled simple gas/steam combined cycle plants the cooling model for air/steam cooling has also been used to evaluate the cooling requirements
